Michael Essien returned to Chelsea training this week and doesn’t look like he’s ready to hang up his boots just yet, despite undeniably being in the late stages of his career.
The 33-year-old midfielder will always be a Stamford Bridge icon, having won two Premier League titles, four FA Cups and the Champions League during his time in west London.
Having left previous club Panathanikos at the end of last season, Essien is without a club and is currently using the facilities at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground to keep his fitness up whilst he weighs up his next move.
He posted his progress yesterday, as he cycled on a bike in the gym wearing Chelsea’s training kit.
It seems unlikely the former AC Milan and Real Madrid man would be given another contract at Chelsea, but surely it can only be a good thing having a club legend like that around the place.
